As expected, Wicked: For Good dominated the weekend box office and delivered the kind of blockbuster numbers we haven’t seen for months.
Wicked: For Good opened to $147 million domestically, which is the second-best opening weekend of 2025 behind A Minecraft Movie. It’s also $35 million more than what Wicked opened to a year ago. Worldwide, Wicked: For Good has $223 million so far. If it can keep the pace, it should reach around $950 million worldwide. The movie earned an A CinemaScore, indicating it will have strong word of mouth going into this holiday weekend, but it will face potential direct competition from Zootopia 2.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t dropped 57% from last weekend and took second place with $8.9 million. It now has $36.6 million domestically and $146 million worldwide. Both previous films in the franchise are outpacing it, so it will most likely end its run as the lowest-grossing film both domestically and worldwide.
Predator: Badlands stayed in third with another $6.5 million, taking it to $76.5 million domestically and $160.2 million worldwide. It’s around $4 million from taking over as the highest-grossing film in the franchise domestically and about $12 million from taking the top spot worldwide. Alien vs Predator currently owns the top spot on both charts.
The Running Man and Rental Family rounded out the top 5. The Running Man had a steep 65% drop from last weekend’s already weak opening, bringing in another $5.7 million and bringing its domestic total to $26.9 million and its worldwide total to $48.2 million. Rental Family opened to $3.3 million domestically.
Sisu: Road to Revenge opened outside the top 5 in sixth place with $2.4 million domestically. That’s slightly less than $1 million more than the first Sisu made back in 2023. Keeper suffered a massive drop-off in its second weekend, falling 75% and dropping from sixth to eleventh place, with $628,801 in second-weekend gross.
Wicked: For Good had the best per-theater average of the weekend with $35,724 in each of the 4,115 theaters it was playing in.
