Christopher Nolan takes us to Ancient Greece next summer when his adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey sails into theaters. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, the king of Ithaca who fought the Trojans in the Trojan War. On his way home from the war, he and his men find themselves on a long, dangerous voyage where they face perils like the Cyclops, Circe (Charlize Theron), and the Sirens. Back home in Ithaca, Odysseus’s wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) has to fend off potential suitors who are looking to take the crown in her husband’s absence. Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Will Yun Lee, and Mia Goth all co-star. The Odyssey is Nolan’s most expensive film to date, with a $250 million budget, and the first movie he has shot entirely on 70mm IMAX. The Odyssey will be released on July 17th next year, and you can view the trailer below.
