Here’s Zach’s picks for the Top 5 Worst (or at least extremely disappointing) Movies of 2025.
- The Electric State: “Spending an ungodly amount of money, Netflix’s latest massive blockbuster, The Electric State, is a mish-mash of ideas that were expressed better in other films and a genuinely terrible script that seems to have contributed to some truly awful performances from the main cast”
- Wolf Man: While The Invisible Man was an interesting modern spin on the classic Monster, Leigh Whannell couldn’t do the same for Wolf Man. Making the lycanthropy into a disease that slowly turns the infected person into a monster, there’s a few interesting visual ways the movie portrays that but overall it’s just a boring, uninteresting creature feature that also tries to shoehorn in a message about abusive fathers and breaking the cycle of violence. This is also maybe the worst offender in recent years: a movie so visually dark that you literally cannot tell what the hell is happening most of the time.
- Tron: Ares: “Tron: Ares has moments of visual flair and a solid soundtrack, but it’s ultimately a disappointing return to the digital frontier, and, given its box office performance, this may be the last time we ever head into The Grid, which would be a sad end to a cult favorite franchise”
- The Running Man: “Ultimately, The Running Man (2025) feels like an attempt to modernize a cult classic without understanding what made the original so great. It’s competent but forgettable, with lackluster villains, a flat directorial approach, and a tone that switches between wacky and serious. If you’re looking for a fun, bombastic action movie like Baby Driver or Hot Fuzz, this is definitely toward the bottom of Edgar Wright’s filmography”
- Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning: “After nearly three decades of impossible missions, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt returns for what’s billed as the last Mission, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The movie tries to wrap up the story from Dead Reckoning Part One, but instead of ending the series on a high note, it’s a bloated and overly serious finale that loses sight of what made the franchise fun”
