Avatar: Fire and Ash continued its reign at the top of the box office charts while Primate overperformed in second place.
Avatar: Fire and Ash took in another $21.3 million, dropping 49% from last weekend. It’s now at a domestic total of $342.5 million and a worldwide total of $1.2 billion. It’s currently the fifth-highest-grossing film domestically in 2025 and should move into at least third place, as it’s pacing ahead of both Zootopia 2 and Superman.  It’s still well below where The Way of Water was at the same time, about $175 million below that movie’s domestic total in its fourth weekend. It’s still a massive hit worldwide, but it is down significantly from the franchise’s previous entry.
Primate was one of the first big wide releases of 2026 and took second place with $11.3 million. That’s slightly above the estimates, which had it around $10 million. The movie got a B- CinemaScore, which is actually fairly positive for a horror movie. Worldwide, it has $13.2 million.
The Housemaid stayed in third place with another $10.9 million and dropped 28% from last weekend. It now has $93.8 million domestically and $192.2 million worldwide.
Zootopia 2 and Greenland 2: Migration rounded out the top 5.  Greenland 2 was pretty much on par with estimates, with $8.4 million domestically. The first Geostorm came out during the pandemic and did not have a theatrical run, so there’s nothing to compare there. It was slightly below another Gerard Butler disaster movie, Geostorm, which opened to $13.7 million domestically back in 2017.  Greenland 2 hasn’t had any international release yet.
The best Per-Theater average went to All That’s Left of You, which took in $28,037 in each of the two theaters it played in over the weekend.
