Fresh out of the latest Sony State of Play showcase, Santa Monica Studio has teamed up with Mega Cat Studios to unveil a new chapter in the God of War saga. God of War: Sons of Sparta returns the series to its Greek mythology origin, reimagined as a 2D metroidvania platformer. The story follows a young Kratos and Deimos as they endure the unforgiving trials of Sparta’s agoge. Set at the very beginning of their first epic quest. The warrior brothers lack their godlike powers and chaotic weaponry in this tale, but their rage burns just as fiercely when they wield the raw strength of a spear and a shield. Check out the trailer below.
Best news: the game is out today. That’s right, this announcement wasn’t just about making the game known; it also shadow-dropped it on the PSN network for gamers to grab today. Original Kratos voice actor TC Carson returns to narrate the adventure, setting the game up to feel like a proper prequel. The game is available in two editions: a Standard Edition for $29.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for $39.99. The Deluxe Edition includes exclusives like a Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, PSN Avatars, and in-game perks.
