The battle for the fate of Earthrealm continues in May when Mortal Kombat II fights its way into theaters. Originally planned to arrive in October last year, Warner Bros. moved it to the beginning of this year’s summer season after the first trailer for the movie garnered record numbers, and the studio is apparently extremely confident it has the potential to be a massive summer blockbuster. Karl Urban joins the cast as Johnny Cage, the latest warrior recruited by Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament against the forces of Shao Khan (Martyn Ford). Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Lewis Tan, Mehcad Brooks, Chin Han, Hiroyuki Sanada, Max Huang, and Joe Taslim return from the first movie, and Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, and Damon Herriman join the cast as Kitana, Jade, and Quan Chi, respectively. Simon McQuoid, who directed the previous film, returned to direct the sequel. Mortal Kombat II is out on May 8th this ummer and you can check out the new trailer below.
