It’s time to join G-Force. IDW Games has officially launched the Kickstarter campaign for Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game, the first-ever tabletop RPG based on the King of the Monsters. The campaign went live on March 3rd and will run for 30 days, with fulfillment currently expected in Fall 2026.
Designed as a full tabletop experience set in the middle of city-smashing kaiju chaos, Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game puts players on the front lines defending humanity from towering threats. Instead of traditional dice-based mechanics, the game uses standard 52-card decks to resolve actions, giving it a unique twist compared to most RPG systems. Players take on the role of members of G-Force, collaborating through character sheets, playing cards, and tactical decision-making as massive monsters lay waste to everything in sight.
The game also reunites three veteran designers from the Warhammer universe — Jervis Johnson, Mark A. Latham, and Gav Thorpe — marking their first co-created tabletop project together. For kaiju fans and tabletop veterans alike, that’s a heavyweight creative lineup.
This marks the first new release from IDW Games in more than five years, with the publisher signaling plans to expand its game line through additional licensed properties in the future. Like many modern tabletop projects, IDW is turning to Kickstarter to offer limited edition pledge tiers and exclusive content for backers.
If you’ve ever wanted to coordinate military strikes, scramble jets, and desperately try to slow down a rampaging kaiju before it levels another city block, now’s your chance. The King of the Monsters has entered the tabletop arena.
