It was a close battle over the weekend, but The Devil Wears Prada 2 managed to edge out Mortal Kombat II and remained at the top of the box office.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 took in another $41.6 million, dropping 46% from last weekend’s opening. It now has $143.4 million domestically and $433.2 million worldwide, easily topping the original film in both categories in just two weeks. It’s also now the fifth-highest-grossing film worldwide of 2026.
Mortal Kombat II debuted in second place with $38.5 million. That’s up from the first film in the reboot series, which opened to $23.3 million in 2021, though it was still heavily affected by the pandemic and was available day-and-date on HBO Max.  MK II’s opening is slightly below Uncharted’s and below the openings of movies like Detective Pikachu and the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie, but none of those were rated R. 75% of the audience for MK II was male, and it grossed $5.2 million from Thursday preview screenings. We’ll have to see how front-loaded it is going into this second weekend.
Michael was in contention for the number one spot, taking third with $37.9 million. The biopic now has $241.8 million domestically and $581 million worldwide.
The Sheep Detectives and Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour 3D rounded out the top 5.  The Sheep Detectives debuted with $15 million domestically and $27.1 million worldwide, and a solid A- CinemaScore, which should give it strong word-of-mouth and continue to draw in family audiences. Billie Eilish debuted with $7 million, which puts it slightly ahead of BTS Permission to Dance on Stage but nowhere near the massive opening weekend of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which had $93.2 million.
Further down the list, Animal Farm took a massive nosedive, dropping 79% from last weekend and barely staying in the top 10 at number 10 with $704,150.
