Whalefall is going where no survival movie has gone before, into the stomach of a sperm whale, in October. Austin Abrams plays Jay Gardiner, a diver who heads to the central coast of California to try to find the remains of his father (Josh Brolin), who died during a dive. While underwater, Jay encounters a massive sperm whale, which swallows him along with several squids. With only an hour of air, Jay has to figure out how he can survive and get out before he dies in the creature’s stomach. Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudd co-star in supporting roles. Brian Duffield, who most recently directed the Hulu alien invasion movie No One Will Save You, directed the film based on Daniel Kraus’s 2023 novel. Whalefall is out on October 16th, and you can check out the trailer below.
