Here’s all the movie and TV news you need to know from the past week, it’s the News Shotgun.

Dungeon Crawler Carl series picked up at Peacock: The adaptation of the massively popular Dungeon Crawler Carl book series has been picked up to series by Peacock. Author Matt Dinniman will executive produce the series along with Seth McFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions. Comic book, film and TV writer Chris Yost wrote the series, which follows Coast Guard veteran Carl as he’s forced to compete in a sadistic alien reality TV show, Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, after an alien invasion wipes out most of humanity.
Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas co-starring in erotic thriller Palm Grove: Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas will co-star in a new erotic thriller from director Kornél Mundruczó.  Palm Grove is “is set in Miami’s most exclusive neighborhood, where a picture-perfect wife uncovers her husband’s double life – igniting a seductive power game that turns betrayal into the most intoxicating game of her life”.
Three new cast members join Fallout: Fallout has added three new cast members to its third season with Manny Jacinto, Emily Mortimer, and Thomasin McKenzie. The actors will have recurring roles but they are currently unknown. Aaron Paul was also recently added to the series for the third season.
Chris Elliott and Michael Ian Black co-starring in cryptid movie Bad Day for Bigfoot: Chris Elliott and Michael Ian Black will co-star along with Sara Tomko, Ashley Rae Spillers, Brian McGuire and Kyle D. King in Bad Day for Bigfoot.  Directed by Zach Green and Devin O’Rourke, the movie “follows a Bigfoot hoax that goes horribly wrong in the middle of an actual Sasquatch hot spot, leading to a chaotic struggle between the hoaxers, investigators, and a supernatural force that defies explanation.”
The Grinch 2 in development: Universal is developing a sequel to Ron Howard’s 2000’s take on How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Jim Carrey is in talks to return as The Grinch and Howard is in talks to return to direct. Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel are writing the script, and plot details are being kept secret.
The Boroughs canceled at Netflix: Netflix has canceled its sci-fi drama series The Boroughs after one season. The show was executive produced by The Duffer Brothers, their last project at Netflix before jumping over to Paramount. The show got strong reviews and it generated 9.5 million views in its first week but then dropped to 3.7 million in its second week.
RIP Daveigh Chase: Actress Daveigh Chase died due to complications from meningitis this past week at age 35. Chase was best known for playing Samara Morgan in The Ring and was also the voice of Lilo in the 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch.  She also appeared in Donnie Darko and was the voice of Chihiro Ogino in the English dub of Spirited Away.
Wagner Moura joins Ocean’s prequel movie: Wagner Moura has joined the upcoming Ocean’s prequel movie, which is getting released on June 25th next year. Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie were previously cast but there are no plot details yet. Cooper is also directing the movie.
Sean Penn directing film based on January 6th police officer: Speaking of Bradley Cooper, he’ll also be starring in a film directed by Sean Pen that is inspired by a police officer who was present at the events at the Captiol on January 6th. The real-life subject has not been identified and the movie will follow their early life and is about an “an unexpected story about friendship”.
Fox Corp. is buying Roku for $22 billion: Fox Corp., which owns the Fox broadcast network, Fox News and Fox Sports, is buying Roku for $22 billion. The deal would combine Tubi, which is owned by Fox Corp, with Roku’s The Roku Channel service along with Fox’s entertainment, sports and news content. The deal is expected to close early next year.
Several cast members join The Last Druid: Several new cast were revealed for the upcoming historical action movie The Last Druid with Drew McIntyre, Tennyson Crowe, Pablo Derqui, Stacy Clausen joining Russel Crowe. The movie is set in the time of the Roman Empire and follows a secluded Druid stonghold in Caledonia. The Emperor orders them destroyed and the Druid elder, played by Crowe, must lead his people into battle.
New cast members join Sex Criminals: Amazon has added two new recurring cast members to their upcoming adaptation of the Image Comics series Sex Criminals.  Pamela Adlon and B.D. Wong will star alongsided Imogen Poots and John Reynolds while executive producer Kumail Nanjiani was also confirmed to be starring. The series follows Suze (Poots) and Jon (Reynolds) who find out that they each have the ability to stop time whenever they have sex and they decided to use their powers to start robbing banks.
Dead by Daylight movie finds a director: The film adaptation of the long-running horror game Dead by Daylight has found a director with Thordur Palsson. Palsson directed the 2024 film, The Damned, which starred Odessa Young. Blumhouse/Atomic Monster is producing the film along with the game’s developer, Behaviour Intreractive.
Mark Hamill joining Twisted Metal: Mark Hamill is joining the cast of Twisted Metal in its third season as the father of Sweet Tooth (Will Arnett/Joe Seanoa), Pope Charlie Kane. In the games, Charlie Kane has been the driver of the taxi Yellow Jacket.
Anya Taylor-Joy joins The Hunt for Gollum: Anya Taylor-Joy is heading to Middle Earth in The Hunt for Gollum.  She’ll play Seren, a Sindar elf of the Woodland Realm. Andy Serkis is returning to play Gollum along with Ian McKellan, Elijah Wood and Hugo Weaving reprising their Lord of the Rings roles. Jamie Dornan is taking over as Aragorn and Kate Winslet and Leo Woodall are also co-starring. Serkis is also directing the movie, which follows Aragorn’s quest to find and capture Gollum in the years between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
