Here’s all the movie and TV news you need to know from the past week, it’s the News Shotgun.

Kathryn Newton co-starring in Durango: Kathryn Newton will co-star with Cooper Hoffman in the Hulu drama series, Durango.  Hoffman stars as Mikey, a “ski bum townie,” while Newton plays Bunny, a “homeschooled runaway working as a waitress in a greasy spoon.” The pair falls in love and is on the run from cops, criminals, and Mikey’s wife.
Lucianne Buchanan returning to The Night Agent: Lucianne Buchanan will return to The Night Agent for the show’s fourth and final season after sitting out Season 3. She’ll return as Rose Larkin, whom Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) was guarding in Season 1 and reunited with in Season 2.
Original Halloween characters playable in Halloween: The Game: Along with Michael Myers, several characters from the original Halloween film will be playable in the upcoming Halloween: The Game.  Laurie Strode, Lynda van der Klok, Annie Brackett, and Bob Simms will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer. Chelsea Krause will voice Laurie. The game is out on September 8th.
Hit Man series in development at Netflix: The Glen Powell movie Hit Man is getting developed into a series at Netflix. Director Richard Linklater and Powell will executive-produce the series, but it doesn’t seem Powell will reprise his role. You’re the Worst creator Stephen Falk is writing the series.
Widow’s Bay renewed for Season 2: One of the best new shows of the year, Widow’s Bay has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV. Matthew Rhys stars as the mayor of a small island community who is looking to bring in tourists, but various creepy occurrences threaten his plans. Series creator Katie Dippold has signed a multi-year development deal with Apple.
Peter Sarsgaard joins The Last of Us: Peter Sarsgaard has joined The Last of Us series, which has just gone into a planned production hiatus for Season 3. Sarsgaard is playing an original character not seen in the games, Amon, one of the leaders of The Seraphites. Season 3 will follow Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby through her side of the events in Seattle, including a major run-in with the Seraphites.
24 Jump Street in development: A third movie in the Jump Street series is in development with 24 Jump Street.  Jokingly saying that it took so long that they had to skip a movie, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Ice Cube are in talks to return to reprise their roles. Rodney Rothman will direct the film and co-write the script with the directors of the first two movies, Lord and Miller, who will executive produce.
Edgar Ramirez joins Task: Edgar Ramirez will join the cast of Task for season 2 of the HBO series. He’s playing Miguel Conteras, “a devoted family man and loyal DEA second-in-command torn between duty and guilt.” Mark Ruffalo returns from the first season, and Mahershala Ali will also co-star.
Geena Davis joins The Kellys: Geena Davis will join Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, Kelsey Asbille, and Abby Elliott in Brad Peyton’s upcoming Amazon movie, The Kellys.  The movie follows disgraced cop Jack Kelly, whose wife is kidnapped by terrorists who have taken over an old armory building. To rescue her, he’ll have to get help from his family, who he might be more scared of than the terrorists.
Several cast members join Oliver Stone’s White Lies:  Several cast members have joined Josh Hartnett and Leila George in Oliver Stone’s new film White Lies.  Michael Douglas, Willem Dafoe, Ellen Barkin, Homer Gere, and Yvonne Chapman have all signed on to the movie, which “follows Jack Freeman (Hartnett), a child of divorce now repeating his parents’ mistakes in his own marriage and with his own children  Feeling trapped, he embarks on a lust-filled journey to escape—only to find himself more lost than before  When he meets a woman, whose life is the opposite of his own, he begins an unexpected journey on the path of rediscovery.”
Four new cast members join Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s AI thriller: Four more cast members have joined Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Netflix AI thriller with Alfre Woodard, Toni Collette, Chloe Coleman, and Sagar Radia. Rachel McAdams, Joel Edgerton, Jeff Daniels, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Caleb McLaughlin were previously cast. The movie is currently untitled, and plot details are being kept under wraps. Gordon-Levitt is directing the film, and Natasha Lyonne gets a “Story by” credit. Rian Johnson is producing via his T-Street production company.
Little One casts several: Dark comedy Little One has added more cast members with Amy Smart, Chiara Aurelia, Redding Munsell, and Derek Luh joining David Harbour and Gaby Hoffman. Zach Cregger is producing the film, and Alex Kavutskiy is making his directorial debut. The movie follows a family torn apart by a child’s behavioral changes.
Your Friends & Neighbors casts more for Season 3: Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors has added four new cast members for Season 3, including Rick Cosnett, Sydney Lemmon, Mitchell Hoog, and Gillian Zinser. Character details have not been revealed. Joshua Jackson and Michelle Monaghan were previously cast for Season 3. Jon Hamm stars as Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a disgraced hedge fund manager who takes up robbing his wealthy neighbors to maintain his and his family’s lifestyle.
Two join The Magnificent Seven: MGM+’s upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven has added Joanne Froggatt and Amy Forsyth to the cast. The new series cast Matt Dillon as Chris Adams, Will Patton as Cyrus T. Clemons, Michael Ealy as Vin Tanner, and Danny Pino as Santiago “Santi” Vega.
Naomi Ackie in talks to co-star in They Follow: Naomi Ackie is in final talks to co-star with Maika Monroe in the long-awaited It Follows sequel, They Follow.  David Robert Mitchell will return to direct the sequel, but plot details are being kept under wraps. The first film followed Monroe’s Jay, cursed by a supernatural entity that constantly changes form and hunts her down. The only way to get rid of the curse is to have sex with someone and pass the entity on to them.
Jem and the Holograms series in development at Amazon: While Masters of the Universe didn’t have the impact that it probably wanted, Amazon is moving ahead with another adaptation of an 80s property.  Jem and the Holograms will be back as an “elevated live-action take” on the 80s favorite. Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, who created Westworld and Fallout, are producing the series with Hasbro.
Several join Turpentine: Several new cast members have joined Craig Zobel’s new thriller, Turpentine. Paul Walter Hauser, Boyd Holbrook, Michael Peña, Will Brill, Teyonah Parris, and Veronika Slowikowska join the previously cast Melissa McCarthy, Connor Storrie, and Bill Camp. The movie’s plot is “after her son hires friends to steal the family’s antique gun collection to pay off a debt, a mother steps in to clean up the mess, triggering a chain of events that stretch the family bond to its limit.”
Lauren LaVera and Rory Culkin co-starring in Red Wedding: Terrifier co-star Lauren LaVera and Rory Culkin will co-star in the new horror-thriller Red Wedding (a working title). Josh Stolberg directs the movie, and it “follows a teenager and her stepmother who are kidnapped and taken to a remote location as part of a ransom plot, soon discovering their captors are the least of their worries when a deadly bride and groom arrive and begin picking them off one by one.”
Hugh Jackman starring in new Treasure Island: Hugh Jackman will star as Long John Silver in a new adaptation of Treasure Island from Ridley Scott. Jack Thorne, who wrote Adolescence, wrote the movie’s script. The movie was shopped out this past week. 20th Century Studios got a first look due to their working relationship with Scott, but they passed because they worried it would conflict with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which is working to get another entry into development.
