Dwayne Johnson Becomes The Smashing Machine in October (Trailer)

Dwayne Johnson gets dramatic in October to play UFC champion Mark Kerr in the sports biopic The Smashing Machine.  Using the same name as an HBO documentary on Kerr, Johnson physically transforms into the fighter, who became a UFC heavyweight champion in the early days of the promotion and also competed in Pride FC and various other promotions, but struggled with substance abuse as he became addicted to painkillers.  Emily Blunt co-stars as Kerr’s girlfriend Dawn Staples with Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, Oleksandr Usyk, Lyndsey Gavin, Satoshi Ishii, and James Moontasri co-starring.  Benny Safdie wrote and directed the movie, which was shot in 16mm, giving it a home video/documentary vibe.  The Smashing Machine is in theaters on October 3rd, and you can check out the trailer below.
