Everything Action Theater: Shootfighter: Fight to the Death (1993)
While Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are teaming up for this weekend’s Karate Kid: Legends, Karate Kid co-stars William Zabka and Martin Kove reunited in 1993 for the martial arts movie Shootfighter: Fight to the Death. Zabka plays Ruben, who, along with his friend and fellow martial artist Nick Walker (Michael Bernardo), finds himself in the deadly world of “shoofighting,” a form of martial arts competition where matches last until one of the opponents is unconscious or dead. Kove plays the villainous Mr. Lee, who has a grudge against Ruben and Nick’s teacher, Shingo, played by Bolo Yeung. The movie is the only film directed by Patrick Alan, who mainly worked as a dancer and choreographer. The movie got a sequel, Shootfighter 2, in 1996, which featured Zabka, Bernardo, and Yeung all returning. You can view the entire film below via YouTube.
