RIP, Alf Clausen: Emmy-winning composer Alf Clausen passed away this past week at the age of 84 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Clausen was best known as the composer for The Simpsons from 1990 to 2017, and he also composed the music for Moonlighting. He also did orchestrations for movies such as Airplane II: The Sequel, Mr. Mom, Splash, The Last Starfighter, Weird Science, Wise Guys, The Naked Gun, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
King of the Hill finds new Dale Gribble: For the upcoming revival of King of the Hill, the show has found its new Dale Gribble in actor Toby Huss, who will take over the role. Original voice actor Johnny Hardwick died in 2023. Huss was already a regular on the series, voicing both Kahn Souphanousinphone Sr. and Hank’s dad, Cotton Hill. The revival debuts on August 4th on Hulu.
Colin Trevorrow and Ryan Reynolds team up for an Area 51 thriller: Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and Ryan Reynolds, under his Maximum Effort production company, are collaborating on a conspiracy thriller based on the Area 51 phenomenon. The untitled film at Paramount is set in the 1980s and is based on the Las Vegas reporter who first broke the news about the secret base.
Miramax picks up spec script ‘Supermax‘: Miramax has acquired the rights to a hot spec script called ‘Supermax’. The movie follows two FBI agents who are called in to investigate a murder at the world’s most secure prison. The script is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, who previously created the shows Hunters and Invasion. Miramax is looking to fast-track the movie into production.
New Harry Potter trio cast: After casting several of the adult characters at Hogwarts, HBO has found its trio of young stars for their Harry Potter series reboot. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The series is an adaptation of the original book series, with each book comprising a season of the series, which allows characters and plots that may have been cut from the movie series to be adapted for the first time.
Vision casts Jocasta: The upcoming Vision series has found its Jocasta with T’nia Miller cast in the role. In the comics, Jocasta was a powerful robot that Ultron built to be his bride. The show is set after Wandavision and follows Vision (Paul Bettany) as he tries to regain his humanity and memories. James Spader is returning in the series as Ultron.
