Everything Action Theater: Undefeatable (1993)
While Ana De Armas makes her mark as an action star this weekend in Ballerina, one of our all-time favorite female action stars will always be Cynthia Rothrock, and one of her best is the awesomely insane Undefeatable from 1993. Directed by prolific Hong Kong action director Godfrey Ho, Rothrock plays Kristi Jones, who leads a gang that engages in street fights to earn money for her sister’s college education. When her sister becomes a victim of a violent serial killer, Stingray (Don Niam), Kristi takes it upon herself to find the killer and stop him, but reluctantly joins forces with Detective Nick DiMarco (John Miller) and her sister’s psychiatrist, Jennifer (Donna Jason). Even if you haven’t seen the entire movie, you’ve probably seen a clip of the ridiculously great final fight, which became a meme around 2006, and it was more recently featured on Best of the Worst. The movie received a 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome in 2023, which also included the Chinese cut of the film, retitled Bloody Mary Killer and featuring an entirely new subplot with actor Robin Shou.
