Thanks to an incredible remix of the sultry 80s jam “One Track Lover” by YouTube artist Noislund, Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace is back in the minds of a lot of folks, and you can watch the show’s first episode in the latest Everything Action Theater. Created by Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade, Holness played Garth Marenghi, a horror novelist in the vein of Stephen King with an incredibly inflated ego. In the universe of the show, Marenghi shot and filmed a TV series in the 1980s called Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, which didn’t air until 2004 when it debuted on the UK’s Channel 4. Along with the main episodes of the series, there are also present-day interviews with the “actors” of the show, providing commentary and behind-the-scenes info. Matt Berry and Alice Lowe co-starred with Ayoade and Holness, and the show was set in the fictional Darkplace Hospital, where horrific and bizarre events constantly occur. The show has been broadcast in the US on both SyFy Channel and Adult Swim, and is currently streaming on Prime Video and PlutoTV. You can watch the first episode of the series, “Once Upon a Beginning”, below via YouTube.
