Conquering the Netflix charts for weeks, KPop Demon Hunters recently took over the Billboard charts as well, with “Golden” becoming the number 1 song both in the US and globally. The animated movie follows the K-pop group Huntr/x, a trio consisting of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who are secretly the latest in a long line of female warriors. They use their singing to keep demons sealed behind a barrier called the Honmoon. The world is threatened when the demons create their K-pop group, the Saja Boys, who look to weaken Huntr/x and destroy the Honmoon. “Golden” is the big new single that Huntr/x is getting ready to debut after a global tour and is one of nine original songs performed by both fictional K-pop groups. Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are the singing trio for Huntr/x, performing all the group’s songs in the movie. “Golden” was one of several songs from the soundtrack that started moving into the Billboard Hot 100 and global Hot 200, and it just recently unseated “Ordinary” by Alex Warren, which has been on the charts for 26 weeks, to become the #1 song in the US.
