The cult favorite Deathstalker series gets a reboot in October from Shout Factory. After supporting roles in Ballerina and Nobody 2 this year, Daniel Bernhardt takes the lead as the barbarian warrior Deathstalker. Monstrous “Dreadites” are stalking the kingdom of Abraxeon, and Deathstalker becomes their target when he recovers a cursed amulet: Patton Oswalt, Laurie Field, Christina Orjalo, Paul Lazenby, and Nina Bergman co-star. Steve Kostanski wrote and directed the movie, most recently coming off the hilarious insanity of Psycho Goreman, and it looks like Kostanski’s talent for incredible practical creatures will be on full display in Deathstalker. Slash is also an executive producer and provided original music to the film alongside Bear McCreary and Chuck Cirino. It appears that this new Deathstalker will blend the various tones of the franchise, neither as serious as the first and later entries nor as goofy and ridiculous as Deathstalker II. Deathstalker is out on October 10th, and you can check out the trailer below.
