Ahead of the launch of Dying Light: The Beast, the studio behind it, Techland, has released a new video, “110 Years of Zombies in Pop Culture”, a follow-up to its video “100 Years of Zombie Evolution” from a decade ago.
The video goes through the history of the walking dead, showcasing how zombies have evolved throughout movies, TV, and video games. Using practical makeup effects and live performers, Techland pays tribute to the genre’s many variations — from early voodoo-inspired ghouls, to Romero’s flesh-eaters, to fast-moving infected like those seen in the 28 Days franchise, and more.
The Dying Light series has contributed to the zombie genre by highlighting parkour and urban movement, along with elements of survival horror and brutal melee combat.

Dying Light: The Beast arrives on September 19, 2025, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
