Gladiatorial combat comes back to Starz in December when the Spartacus spin-off series, House of Ashur, debuts. A “What If?…” scenario, House of Ashur plays out in a timeline where Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) was killed at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius thanks to the duplicitous actions of Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay). With the slave revolt defeated, Ashur is given control of the gladiator ludus where he was formerly enslaved and begins to build his own stable of gladiators to fight in the arena. After a series of setbacks and seeking something to set him apart, Ashur finds Achilla (Tenika Davis) and begins to train her as one of the world’s first female gladiators. Graham McTavish, Ivana Baquero, Jamaica Vaughan, Jordi Webber, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith, Cameron Rhodes, and Leigh Gill co-star. Original series creator, Steven S. DeKnight, returns for this series.  The series debuts on December 5th on Starz, and you can check out the new trailer below (or click here for the blood and nudity-filled red band trailer).
