Get Rich or Die Tryin’ just turned 20 this past weekend, and the song “Window Shopper” was the movie’s theme song. Starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in his acting debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ was a mix of dramatized and autobiographical elements from 50 Cent’s life, as he portrayed Marcus Greer, a drug dealer who leaves his life of crime to pursue a music career. The film wasn’t a critical or commercial success, but it became a cult favorite amongst 50 Cent fans, especially for the soundtrack. “Window Shopper” was the second single released from the movie’s soundtrack album and reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming certified Gold. The Get Rich or Die Tryin’ soundtrack album went Platinum and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 200 and ended the year at #50. For the music video, 50 Cent and Mase are in Monaco and Cannes, purchasing expensive shoes and cars, and the song is about how they can afford this now because of their success. G-Unit members M.O.P., Mobb Deep, and Olivia also appear in the video. Check it out below.
