After previously featuring Leona Lewis and The Weeknd as end-credits songs in the first two Avatar movies, Avatar: Fire and Ash featured Miley Cyrus performing “Dream As One”. Cyrus and James Cameron were both inducted as “Disney Legends” at the 2023 D23 Awards, and Cyrus let Cameron know she was available for whatever he needed, which led him to ask her to prepare a song for the soundtrack of Fire and Ash. Working with Mark Ronson, whom she previously collaborated with on “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart”, she wrote “Dream As One.” The song was announced in October last year and debuted on streaming in November. The song didn’t do much chart-wise in the US, but it did make the top 5 in France, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe and was on the Oscar shortlist but didn’t make the final cut. Cyrus shot a music video for the song that leaned into the fire-and-ash imagery, along with clips from the movie, and you can watch it below.
