25 years after co-starring in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless revisited the soundtrack for a rock cover of “Where Are You Christmas?” Momsen originally performed the song in the movie as Cindy Lou Who, and the movie’s soundtrack had a pop version by Faith Hill. Mariah Carey, James Horner, and Will Jennings wrote the song for the film. Since appearing in the movie, Momsen became the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, which formed in 2009, and has had several hit songs, including “Make Me Wanna Die” and “Death by Rock and Roll.” They are the only female-fronted band to have seven singles top the Mainstream Rock chart. In October, the band announced their EP, Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, which features six Christmas songs, including “Christmas, Why Can’t I Find You?”, also from The Grinch soundtrack. In the music video, Momsen duets with her younger self’s vocals, and it features vintage footage of her at age seven appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Check out the video below.
