Avatar: Fire and Ash continued to reign at the box office to kick off 2026, crossing over $1 billion worldwide.
Avatar: Fire and Ash added another $40 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total to $305.9 million and its worldwide total to just over $1 billion. It’s the third Hollywood film to cross the $1 billion mark, joining Zootopia 2 and Lilo & Stitch, and it has surpassed the latter to become the third-highest-grossing film of 2025. While Fire and Ash is without a doubt a hit, it is lagging significantly behind The Way of Water, at least domestically. Within the same time frame, The Way of Water’s gross was $425.5 million, $120 million higher than Fire and Ash‘s current gross. It’s also tracking behind the original Avatar, which was at $352.1 million at the same point in its run.
Zootopia 2 remained in second place with another $19 million. It’s now at $363.6 million domestically and $1.5 billion worldwide. It had a minuscule 4% drop-off from last weekend.
The Housemaid and Marty Supreme swapped places, with The Housemaid moving up to third with another $15 million, which is basically identical to last weekend, as it only dropped 1%. It now has $75.9 million in domestic revenue and $133.2 million worldwide. Marty Supreme took in another $12.5 million, falling 29% from last weekend, and bringing its domestic gross to $56 million.
Anaconda rounded out the top 5, staying in fifth with another $10 million, dropping 31% from last weekend. It’s now at $45.8 million domestically and $88.3 million worldwide.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants moved up from last weekend, going from seventh to sixth with another $8.2 million. It now has $57.6 million in domestic revenue and $112.2 million worldwide.
The best per-theater average went to No Other Choice, which averaged $22,247 across 45 theaters over the weekend.
