Coming out in 2009, Daybreakers put a new spin on the vampire genre, and you can watch it in the latest Everything Action Theater. Set in the far-off future of 2019, Daybreakers is set in a world where vampires have taken over the planet. With the surviving humans dwindling and the supply of blood running out, hematologist Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) seeks to develop a synthetic blood replacement but instead becomes involved with a group of humans led by Lionel “Elvis” Cormac (Willem Dafoe) who claim to have the cure for vampirism. Sam Neill co-stars as the villainous CEO of the company that Dalton works for. The movie featured strong world-building as it imagined a vampire-run world with things like video cameras and UV-filtered dark windows in cars.
