The Recess gang made the jump from One Saturday Morning to theaters 25 years ago, when Recess: School’s Out opened. Along with Robert Goulet providing Mikey’s (Jason Davis) singing voice, Myra also recorded a cover of “Dancing in the Street” for the movie’s soundtrack. Becoming the first Latina artist signed to Walt Disney Records/Hollywood Records, she became a go-to for soundtrack songs, including “Miracles Happen (When You Believe)” in 2001 for The Princess Diaries. “Dancing in the Street”, a cover of the Motown classic by Martha and the Vandellas, also appeared on Myra’s self-titled album in 2001. For the music video, it has similar vibes to the music video for “King of Wishful Thinking” by Go West, where Myra and a bunch of backup dancers are in a white void while clips from the movie are sprinkled throughout. Check it out below.
