Maggie Gyllenhaal is bringing a bold new version of The Bride! to theaters this weekend but you can watch the Bride’s debut in the 1935 Universal horror classic in the latest Everything Action Theater. Directed by Frankenstein director James Whale, Bride of Frankenstein picks up the story from the end of that film, as both The Monster (Boris Karloff) and Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) survived their climactic confrontation at the burning windmill. Frankenstein reunites with his mentor, Doctor Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), who wants to create a mate for Frankenstein’s Monster, which Frankenstein is initially hesitant to do. Despite her limited screentime, Elsa Lancaster made a permanent impact on pop culture as The Bride, and it’s considered one of the greatest sequels ever made and James Whale’s masterpiece. In 1998, it was inducted into the National Film Registry and has been released multiple times across various formats. You can watch the entire movie below via the Internet Archive.
