Fitting in right alongside the industrial/electronic music style of Batman Beyond, for the 2000 movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, house group Mephisto Odyssey teamed with Wayne Static of Static-X for the song “Crash” on the movie’s soundtrack. The version of the song featured in the movie was actually a remix by the Humble Brothers, and the non-remixed version appeared on Static-X’s album Beneath… Between… Beyond.. Both Mephisto Odyssey and Wayne Static were dissatisfied with the original music video for the song, as they felt it leaned too heavily on promoting the film. A recut version, using restored footage and the original demos of the song, was created in 2024 and recently released in 4K on the Mephisto Odyssey YouTube channel. Len Wiseman, who most recently “directed” Ballerina, directed the music video, and Wayne Static, who passed away in 2014, leans into the Batman aesthetic by appearing in a batsuit and styling his hair into Bat ears. Check out the new restored music video below.
