007 First Light is almost here, and IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios dropped the game’s launch trailer today ahead of its release next week.
007 First Light tells a reimagined origin story for James Bond, who is portrayed in the game by Patrick Gibson. The story follows a younger Bond after a dangerous mission in Iceland that catches MI6’s attention. Bond finds support from M, played by Priyanga Burford, but clashes with former 00 agent John Greenway, played by Lennie James, whose strict methods conflict with Bond’s improvisational instincts. The game also features Lenny Kravitz as the mysterious villain Bawma.
Built around IO Interactive’s “Creative Approach” gameplay philosophy from the Hitman series, 007 First Light lets players tackle missions through stealth, gadgets, deception, or direct combat. Gameplay features include Bond’s Instinct ability, Q Branch gadgets, environmental spycraft mechanics, and fluid gunplay and melee combat.
The game also includes a replay-focused Tactical Simulation mode, or TacSim, where players can revisit missions with modifiers and challenges to unlock new rewards and experiment with different approaches.
007 First Light launches May 27th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving later this summer. Players who pre-order the game will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which includes 24-hour early access and exclusive in-game cosmetics.
