In a bizarre coincidence, the lead single from Bad Boys for Life, “RITMO”, samples “The Rhythm of the Night” by Corona, right before the pandemic shut everything down in 2020. The song is a collaboration between the Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin and fused together hip-hop, EDM/dance, and reggaeton while featuring a slowed-down sample, mainly of the chorus, of “Rhythm of the Night.” The song was released in October 2019, with the movie opening in January 2020. It debuted at #100 on the Hot 100 but eventually climbed up to #26 and was the first Top 40 hit for the Black Eyed Peas since 2011. The music video for the song leans heavily into synthwave imagery, with neon, abstract backgrounds, and, weirdly, it’s almost a minute until any clips from the movie appear.
