Musical Montage: Evanescence “Afterlife”

Alongside all the nu metal throwbacks like Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach in Netflix’s recent Devil May Cry series, there was also a brand new song from Evanescence, “Afterlife”.  The song debuted in the show’s sixth episode “The First Circle,” which revealed the tragic backstories of the show’s main villain, The White Rabbit (Hoon Lee) and Mary Ann Arkham aka Lady (Scout Taylor-Compton) and gave the show a tonal shift from the rest of the series, which is decidedly more goofy and over the top.  The song came out on March 28th, just before Devil May Cry debuted on April 3rd on Netflix.  A lyrics music video with footage from the series debuted shortly after the series started streaming but last week a music video featuring Evanescence performing debuted.  While it missed the opportunity to put Amy Lee in a sweet Dante-style jacket, it does feature a few clips from the show while the band rocks out in a run-down house.  Check out the video below.
