Musical Montage: Miles Fisher “New Romance”

Final Destination: Bloodlines arrives in theaters this weekend, which makes it the perfect time to revisit the musical high point of the franchise, the music video for “New Romance” by Miles Fisher.  Fisher starred alongside Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Ellen Wroe, David Koechner, PJ Byrne, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, and Arlen Escarpeta, and everyone except Escarpeta appeared in the “New Romance” video.  In a brilliantly bizarre move, the music video is a parody of Saved by the Bell, with Fisher playing Zach Morris, Bell playing Jesse, Byrne as Screech, D’Agosto as Slater, Wood as Kelly and Koechner as Mr. Belding but it also incorporates Final Destination style deaths as everyone starts to get killed in random accidents.  The music video parodies famous Saved by the Bell moments, like Jesse’s pill freakout, and everything from the sets to the costumes is perfectly on-brand.  The song was released on Fisher’s album Video Music in 2013, including his cover of “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody),” featuring a music video that paid homage to American Psycho.  Check out the “New Romance” video below.
