Johnny Cage joins the Mortal Kombat tournament in October when Mortal Kombat II arrives. Karl Urban plays the washed-up martial arts action star, who is recruited by Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) to join the other Earthrealm champions in a battle against Outworld and their despotic ruler Shao Khan (Martyn Ford). Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada return from the first movie, along with Damon Herriman, who voiced Kabal in the first movie but is now playing Quan Chi. Along with Urban, Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph join the cast. Simon McQuoid, who directed the 2021 Mortal Kombat, returned for this sequel.
