Debuting in primetime just in time for Halloween in 1995, “The Haunted Mask” started the spooktacular Goosebumps TV series on Fox, and you can watch it in the latest Everything Action Theater. Based on the massively popular Goosebumps book series by R.L. Stine, The Haunted Mask was the 11th book in the series and follows Carly Beth (Kathryn Long), a shy, bullied girl who decides to try and turn the tables on Halloween and find a terrifying mask to wear. She finds one in the back room of an old costume shop, but the owner refuses to sell it. Carly Beth steals it (but leaves some money) and sets out to trick-or-treat and get revenge on her bullies, but quickly learns that the mask is becoming a dark influence on her, and she cannot take it off. R.L. Stine himself hosted the episode in a sort of Rod Serling/Cryptkeeper role, and he considers this his favorite episode of the TV series. It was a massive hit with 7.9 million viewers in the US and another 3 million in Canada when it aired the next day on YTV. Goosebumps ran for four seasons until 1998, and it’s currently on Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Netflix. You can watch The Haunted Mask below via YouTube.
