Thanks to superfan James Gunn, rock band Foxy Shazam has become a staple of the DC universe, with their song “Oh Lord” featured as the intro for Season 2 of Peacemaker. Formed in 2004, the band released their debut album, The Flamingo Trigger, in 2005 and eventually signed with major labels for their subsequent albums, Foxy Shazam and The Church of Rock and Roll. The group disbanded after releasing their 2014 album, Gonzo, but reformed in 2020 and have since put out five albums, with the latest, Box of Magic, released on October 6th. “Oh Lord” was a single off their Foxy Shazam album, but didn’t do much on the charts. Their biggest hit is “I Like It” off of The Church of Rock and Roll, which peaked at #5 on the Mainstream Rock charts. James Gunn has proclaimed them “objectively the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world” and first included them on the soundtrack for Peacemaker Season 1 with “Welcome to the Church of Rock and Roll”. The group then performed the audio for The Mighty Crabjoys’ song “The Mighty Crabjoys Theme” for Superman, and then had “Oh Lord” become the theme song for Peacemaker Season 2. Just like Season 1, the cast performed an elaborate dance number for the intro sequence, and the band had a cameo during the season finale. Check out the band’s original music video, the Peacemaker intro sequence, and their Season 2 cameo below.
