YouTube TV is offering genre-specific bundles: 10 bundles priced below its full live service will soon be available. Details are scarce, but bundles will include news, sports, and family entertainment, and you can combine multiple bundles to customize your experience. The current full YouTube TV service costs $82.99 per month and includes live channels such as Comedy Central, AMC, TNT, CNN, FX, and more, along with unlimited DVR.
The Boys VR game announced: You can enter the world of The Boys next year when The Boys: Trigger Warning arrives on VR platforms. You play as a new character who becomes a Supe but joins The Boys to battle Vought. The gameplay blends stealth and combat with the show’s over-the-top dark humor. Laz Alonso, Colby Minifie, PJ Byrne, and Jensen Ackles will reprise their roles from the series in the game. The game is available to pre-order on the Meta and PlayStation stores for $23.99.
Down Cemetery Road renewed for Season 2: Apple has renewed its thriller series Down Cemetery Road for a second season. The show stars Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson and follows an investigation into a missing girl, who disappeared on the same night an explosion rocked a quiet UK suburb. The second season will kick off with a woman being struck by a train, which leads into the world of black-market antiquities. The series is based on novels by Mick Herron, who wrote the books on which Slow Horses, also on Apple TV, is based.
Assassin’s Creed series finds co-lead: The Assassin’s Creed live-action series has found its co-lead with Lola Petticrew joining Toby Wallace this week to star in the series. Details are being kept under wraps. Production gets underway next year in Italy.
Disney signs billion-dollar deal with Sora: Disney has signed a massive $1 billion deal with OpenAI’s Sora to allow the company to use its characters, like Captain America, Yoda, Elsa, and Moana, in AI-generated fan videos, some of which could end up on Disney+ in some form. Disney will also utilize OpenAI’s tools, like ChatGPT, in their operations, but OpenAI cannot use Disney IP to train its AI. OpenAI operates in an “opt out” capacity, where licensed content is available to users until the rights holder decides to opt out and have it removed from use.
RIP Peter Greene: Veteran character actor Peter Greene was found dead this week at age 60. Greene is best known for his roles in films such as Pulp Fiction, where he played Zed, and The Mask, where he played the villainous Dorian Tyrell. He also appeared in films such as End Game, Blue Streak, The Usual Suspects, and Training Day.
Holes reboot canceled: Disney is not moving forward with a new version of Holes, which was going to be a Disney+ series. The series was going to follow Hayley, played by Shay Rudolph, who was sent to a detention camp run by a ruthless warden, played by Greg Kinnear, who has the campers digging endless holes for a mysterious purpose. Aidy Bryant was also going to co-star.
