A running joke throughout the 2004 comedy Eurotrip, “Scotty Doesn’t Know” by Lustra also reached the Hot 100 in 2006. In Eurotrip, Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) is dumped by his girlfriend, Fiona (Kristen Kreuk), for the lead singer of a band, played in a cameo by Matt Damon. Scotty decides to go with several friends to Europe to try and find his German pen pal, who he realizes is a girl named Mieke (Jessica Boehrs), and wacky hijinks ensue. The song was inspired by an actual event that happened to a friend of the band in high school, and the movie’s writer, David Mendel, several members of Lustra, and Damon all went to college together. The song was included on Lustra’s 2006 album Left for Dead and reached #75 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the music video for the song, Lustra plays movers tasked with emptying an apartment, but they end up destroying the place. Check it out below.
