The Beekeeper 2 gets a release date: Jason Statham returns as The Beekeeper when the sequel to the 2024 movie arrives on January 15, 2027. Timo Tjahjanto, who most recently directed Nobody 2, is directing, and Jeremy Irons, Yara Shahidi, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jemma Redgrave, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland co-star with Statham.
CBS renews several of its shows: CBS has given renewals to several of its reality shows and dramas. Tracker, George & Mandy’s First Marriage, Matlock, Elsbeth, Fire Country, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Survivor, and The Amazing Race are all coming back for new seasons. Boston Blue, Sheriff Country, FBI, and Ghosts were all previously renewed.
New Evil Dead movie finds main cast: Evil Dead Burn is coming out later this year, but the next Evil Dead movie after that has found its main cast. Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Ella Oliphant, and Elizabeth Cullen will star in the new movie, the title and plot of which are unknown. Francis Galluppi, who directed The Last Stop in Yuma County, will write and direct the movie.
Mark Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed starring in FIFA thriller: Mark Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed are starring in the upcoming Netflix thriller The Big Fix. Wahlberg will reunite with his Contraband and 2 Guns director, Baltasar Kormákur, whose film Apex is coming out on Netflix this year. The Big Fix follows a former Interpol agent who now works for FIFA. He uncovers a global match-fixing scandal and sets out to investigate, putting him up against a hustler running the scheme for the Triads.
Netflix cancels two series: Netflix has canceled two of its new series, The Abandons and The Vince Staples Show. The Abandons was a western drama developed by Kurt Sutter, but he left the project before the end of production. The Vince Staples Show was a comedy loosely based on Staples’ life and was in its second season. The Abandons had 19.8 million views in its first 28 days of release on Netflix, while Season 2 of The Vince Staples Show only had 1.7 million views since it debuted last year in November and never charted on the Netflix weekly Top 10 lists.
Kenan and Kel are reuniting for a new horror comedy: Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are reuniting for a new horror-comedy movie, Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein. The news was dropped on Kenan’s Amazon sports show Good Sports, which Kel was guest co-hosting. The movie will go into production this summer. The pair most recently reteamed for Good Burger 2 in 2023.
Léa Seydoux joins The Masque of the Red Death: Léa Seydoux will join Oscar winner Mikey Madison in the upcoming A24 horror movie The Masque of the Red Death. Based on the Edgar Allen Poe story, the new movie is a “revisionist and darkly comedic take” on the story. In the story, a deadly plague ravages the countryside, but the wealthy elite lock themselves in a fortified abbey for a masquerade ball.
