Sucker Punch turns 15 this week, debuting in theaters in March 2011. Music played an integral part in the movie’s style and tone, as the songs were used to launch into over-the-top action sequences that played out like a series of music videos. The songs used consisted of either remixes of existing songs, like Björk’s “Army of Me,” or covers. Star Emily Browning performed three of the covers on the movie’s soundtrack with “Asleep”, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”, and “Where is My Mind?” while co-stars Carla Gugino and Oscar Isaac performed a duet cover of “Love is the Drug”. Elaborate dance sequences were also planned for the film, but due to time constraints, most were cut, except for one during the movie’s credits. The movie’s soundtrack was much better received than the film itself, with Browning’s vocals garnering praise and critics rating it one of the year’s best soundtrack albums. The album reached #22 on the Billboard Hot 200. Check out the movie’s soundtrack below.
