
While you may think it was a tie-in to the fan favorite Brendan Fraser movie, “Watch Out For That Tree” was actually a “bonus feature” on VHS releases of the original 1960s George of the Jungle cartoon. Featuring one of pop culture’s greatest tap dancers, Savion Glover, the song is essentially a hip-hop remix of the cartoon’s iconic theme song, with new verses rapped by Glover. Various clips from the cartoon are interspersed, and Glover and his backup dancers perform on a set that looks like the cartoon’s backgrounds. In that same year, Glover appeared as “Young Jelly” in the movie Jelly’s Last Jam, which featured Gregory Hines starring as jazz musician and bandleader Jelly Roll Morton. The music video was included in the CBS/Fox compilations of George of the Jungle released in the early ’90s. You can check out the music video below.
