Here’s all the movie and TV news you need to know from the past week, it’s the News Shotgun.

Animated Venom movie in development: Sony Pictures is developing an animated Venom film with Final Destination Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, with Tom Hardy set to be involved creatively. However, it’s unclear if he’ll reprise his role as the voice of Eddie Brock.
RIP Eric Dane: Eric Dane lost his battle against ALS this week and passed away at the age of 53. He was best known for Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, but also starred in TV shows like The Last Ship, Countdown, and Kabul, and appeared in movies like Bad Boys: Ride or Die, X-Men: The Last Stand, Burlesque, Borderline, and Americana.  Dane finished filming his role in the upcoming Season 3 of Euphoria and also has a film called Family Secrets coming up, which will mark his final on-screen appearances.
Tiffany Haddish and Rosario Dawson starring in horror movie The Lessson: Tiffany Haddish and Rosario Dawson are set to star in The Lesson, a horror-thriller written and directed by executive producer JoJo Ryder in his feature debut. The film follows former students haunted by disturbing events after their devoted teacher’s death, with production planned for Los Angeles later this year.
Bill Hader making feature film debut with horror movie They Know: Bill Hader is set to write, star and make his feature film directorial debut with the upcoming horror film They Know.  Hader plays a divorced father who grows suspicious of his ex-wife’s new boyfriend, who seems to have a strange influence on his kids. Hader directed 18 episodes of his incredible HBO series Barry, winning multiple DGA Awards and being nominated for multiple Emmy Awards.
Ensemble cast revealed for thriller Complex, Texas: Kevin Dillon, Cam Gigandet, Brian Austin Green, Jenna Jameson, Danielle Vasinova, Kelly Lynn Reiter, and Nick Swardson lead the ensemble of Complex, Texas, an action-thriller directed by Jared Cohn that recently wrapped production. The film follows three small-time criminals whose $300 million heist spirals into chaos when they’re stranded in a West Texas town where desperate locals will do anything for a cut of the fortune.
John Malkovich joins Amazon series Bishop: John Malkovich is joining Joel Kinnaman on the upcoming Amazon Prime series Bishop.  Malkovich will play Kinnaman’s father, Lincoln Graves. The series follows Kinnaman as Detective Bishop Graves, who is tracking a serial killer in San Francisco who is killing the wealthy.
Kristen Bell joins Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Kristen Bell was cast this week as Amy Rose for the upcoming fourth entry in the Sonic movie franchise. Amy was teased at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, along with Metal Sonic. Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey voice the main trio of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails, while Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter play Sonic’s adopted parents. Jeff Fowler, who directed all three previous entries, will direct this upcoming fourth film.
RIP Tom Noonan: Veteran character actor Tom Noonan died this past week at age 74. Best known for his villainous roles, Noonan appeared in movies such as Manhunter, The Last Action Hero, Robocop 2, The House of the Devil, Heat, and The Monster Squad.  His final role was voicing “Phil’s Dad” on the 2018 animated series Animals.
Ticket to Ride movie in development at Netflix: Netflix is developing a feature adaptation of the hit board game Ticket to Ride after securing exclusive global rights from Asmodee. Ben Mekler and Chris Amick are writing the script, with game creator Alan R. Moon executive producing as part of a broader deal that could expand the franchise across film and television.  Ticket to Ride is one of the most popular board games of all time, having sold 20 million copies and been translated into 30 languages.
Walton Goggins and Chloë Grace Moretz co-starring in Mister: Thunder Road, the production company behind John Wick, has the action comedy Mister on the way with Walton Goggins and Chloë Grace Moretz set to star. Goggins replaces Josh Brolin, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The movie follows Goggins, who plays a former contract killer who wakes up in a house covered in blood and is forced to fight off other killers from his past. He has to team up with his estranged daughter, who has also become a killer, to get out. Wade Eastwood, a second-unit and action director who has worked on Mission Impossible: Fallout and The Final Reckoning, is making his directorial debut.
McKenna Grace first cast member set for Netflix’s Scooby-Doo: The first member of Mystery Inc. has been cast for a new live-action Scooby-Doo series in development at Netflix. McKenna Grace, who has Scream 7 and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping out this year, will play Daphne. The series will consist of eight episodes and follows the origins of the Scooby gang as they meet at summer camp and solve a possibly supernatural murder. Greg Berlanti, one of the creators of the Arrowverse on The CW, along with Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is an executive producer on the series.
RIP Robert Duvall: One of the greatest actors of his generation, Robert Duvall, passed away this past week at age 95. Winning an Oscar for Tender Mercies, Duvall also appeared in films like The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Great Santini, Secondhand Lions, Open Range, Days of Thunder, Gone in 60 Seconds, Deep Impact, Geronimo, Network, and many more. He also led the critically acclaimed miniseries Lonesome Dove alongside Tommy Lee Jones. His final role was in 2022’s The Pale Blue Eye.  Duvall was nominated for seven Oscars and won two Emmy Awards.
